I’m Covered in Bitches OVA #01 — Improper Fencing Equipment

What the living hell are those helmets?

The last Symphonia OVA should be out a week ago. Then again, the official site hasn’t updated in a month and is still advertising the previous episode with only a note in their news feed about the release date of this one. Meanwhile, this is a throwback to a few years ago where most OVAs were pre-aired on TV in a slightly shortened version a month or so prior to DVD release. Don’t you just love OVAs and their lack of a predictibility?

Impressions:

Wow, Silver Link. This may just be the blandest thing visually that you have ever made. Sure, the first one was far from what I’d call the pinnacle of the animated medium, but at least it didn’t take itself that seriously, had those derpy SD chibis that were always good for a laugh, and the Tsunderella OVA was very amusing. This, though… Squint and you could mistake it for Marimite, complete with bland direction, piano sparkling, and swarm of barely repressed Christian lesbians longingly staring into each other’s eyes. Which is I guess okay if you loved Marimite but thought what it really needed was one of them packing a sausage sardine, but otherwise… feh.

Only one of them has a penis. Well, this one does have at least one out and out bisexual going around seducing her classmates and has a sixth sense for locating penises… who armed with this knowledge, immediately sneaks up on him while pantsless and then they have tea, still pantsless . That’s about the only improvement though. I guess the angry one who hates penises forces him to fence against her in a curiously well animated few seconds. That could be ripe for all kinds of amusing phallic imagery if A.) The lead-up and everything else wasn’t so boringand B.) They were wearing actual fencing equipment instead of… god only knows what those helmets were supposed to be. Also, a match to one? In Epee? You think that proves anything? Pfft. My suspension of disbelief is shattered. I cannot go on with this farce.

Preview:

More of the same.

Deughhhh, the anime art style does look pretty damn dull.

Just the modern version for more visibility.

Watch the Olympics, they’re using them there too :).

They were even mandatory for competitions afaik until an incident in which a junior fencer got cut because the visor was punctured. Now the fencer can choose which one he wants to use (with almost all opting for the modern one I guess).

  • Hayate-kun says:

OVA does NOT do this any good…no start up, no character development…haphazard directing…too much skipping around…anime only sequence at the end…wow this is a tad disappoint…it’s really mellow this one…

Also old as hell … I mean MangaGamer is working on the English version of the VN.

    Whats next? Shuffle OVA?

      Wrong game, champ.

    • Hayate-kun says:

This is Otome boku ni Koishiteru 2 Futari no Elder, Not the first one. Different protagonist set about a year or two after the first one. Different male protagonist issue, same ol crossdressing joke.

What if the sword puncture the silicon breast (or whatever)? :)

End of story… Death flag / Prison flag.
