Prophetic too. Great.

I know I say this with every OVA/nonscheduled release, but I really need to pay more attention to this stuff. I don’t even know where this came from (although it is specifically marked as episode 0) and I resist finding out. The other thing I’ll get to in a little bit, but it was out most of a week ago. Oi.

Impressions:

You know, I was joking about the string of flashback episodes. This one probably doesn’t count though since it comes from… somewhere… but isn’t part of the broadcast schedule. Regardless, I’d have a lot more patience for one of these sort of generic low-budget pre-everything-interesting-happening episodes if the last two months of the show hadn’t been fairly generic low-budget-nothing-interesting-happening. Yes, yes. Aria drunkenly rants about how she wishes Rea would die, Doofus has wet dreams about zombies/HIS MOTHER that lead him to the magic zombie book, and Deen’s CG cars/scenery look like they were made on an N64. There was one particularly horrendous shot of Doofus walking… totally in CG, just out of nowhere. It was horrifying.

I guess if I had to pick any, the main reason for this existing is that so the animators could say they drew Rea’s nipples. Great work there, Deen. Although with that said, it’s kind of bizarre how it was just for one or two shots at the very start and then they begin emitting a powerful magnetic force that kept her hair glued over top of them. Come on, Deen. In for a penny, in for a pound. If you’re going to draw creepy little pink dots on a pale, vaguely luminescent ‘body’, then you’re already in it. At least the music was nicer here than usual, but that’s all I can dredge up.
