Consume Miso, Be a Mage — The No-No Places

June 15th, 2012

Way to be, Japanese light novel industry.

Impressions:

And here, on a slow day, we have a webcast of a short OVA for the winner of Kodansha’s best rookie LN of last year, at least if the video comments are to be believed. As such, it’s the same magical girlfriend nonsense as always, only in one 12 minute long episode instead of an entire series, and they did their damnedest to make it just like a full season run. Yada yada ‘clever’ analogy of MISO to ‘so hilarious eating miso is funny’ premise which is then abandoned after the first 5% of the run (in this case, 30 seconds) to focus on T&A. Oh, and CG helicopters. Because even in a cheap 10 minute OVA, you’ve got to find a way to fit your goddamned ugly CG things in somewhere.

And make no mistake about it. We all know who and exactly what this is for and it featured three or four MINUTES worth of just panning over the girls skipping around in bikinis and sucking on phallic things. That was what they used for interstitials. But just being generic and obtrusively… obnoxiously pandering isn’t what really impressed me. Actually, after how plodding this season has been, a little but of nonsensical chaos was almost nice. It wasn’t that though, it was how every single screen transition besides the very first one and the very last one began with a screen filling shot of either a female’s crotch or her ass. That takes dedication and skill to the greater set of the female sexual organs.

if it has a good story and a well-animated production.. then it’s a good anime that will be remembered at least for 3 years.

boob shows generally lasts in short-term memory.

Unless they continue to release new versions of it every couple years.

Looking at Queen’s Blade as a prime example, i guess it’s true. I yield.

The boob-loving audience must not be underestimated after all, if boobs equal profits.

It’s simple to remember a decent character. It’s hard to remember an inanimate object.

When you think about how humanity is dumb enough for the pandering marketing to work, it gets hard to stay positive or like the world.
