Sanka Rea #03 — …Boobs

April 19th, 2012

Yes, Deen. I see them. I’m not sure why they keep changing sizes though.

Impressions:

I think they had no idea what to do with a large chunk of this episode. There’s about five minutes of nothing but shots of Ranko’s breasts and panties as she flounces and squirms around through various places before being left behind because apparently after that point, she’s fulfilled her purpose for the week. Rea’s mother helped out too with her pantsless dress shirt. Way to chew up some time with pointless T&A. And it is so totally appropriate given the content of the rest of the episode too! Nothing like some tits to really drive home domestic abuse, right?

They did do a much better job this week with the stuff leading up to Rea trying to kill herself, changing it from just one slap to her father beating and berating her with nicely blood-colored backgrounds to really get that visceral presentation. Melodrama like that is a touchy are though and they definitely went too far at the end. Almost everything about her father is just too over the top to be taken seriously. In this case, it was probably the riding crop and treating the little zombie cat that every other character barely batted an eye at like it was the spawn of Satan walking the earth. The butler praising God as the rain stopped wasn’t helping either. Leave it subtle. Stick to him taking off his gloves only to touch his daughter. That’s subtle and disturbing. Screaming bloody murder about a mildly zombified cat that doesn’t even look that strange and having that be the impetus for accidentally ‘killing’ the daughter you are so keen on abusing… We’re into bad soap opera territory.

It’s time for dem zombies now! In your pants!!

  • Dave Baranyi says:

Much if not most of this episode was word-for-word, scene-for-scene straight from the manga. And yes, the manga does go over the top at times with the melodrama.

And to a good extent, the manga is much more gratuitous with nude shots of Wanko and Rea. For example, in the manga Rea’s blouse is torn open and mostly off from her impalement.

So what you are watching is pretty much what you will be getting – don’t expect “great art”, just sit back and watch a sometimes clumsy, sometimes surprisingly adept attempt at ero-guro.

  • MAR-KLAC_VELOUS DE-KLAC-CADE says:

well now it finally happen she is now zombie & cat ears hairstyle boy got a zombie girl.

yet that father really indeed so do NOT like or trust that father not one bit in anyway really yea even goes scared of zombie babu cat yea panic cause i’m algeric.

cause of that give rea try to defend babu but her father really cause of your doing you killed own daughter!!!

now rea is zombie girl oh my now how to handle it next?

  • The Phantom says:

The dead scene would have had more impact without censors.

I thought the plot was kinda lame, like a zombie variant of a magical girlfriend show, but studio Deen has handled this rather well showing the girl and her problems with her creepy father, to the point that it was actually believable the suicide attempt.

So far is going great, I’m waiting for next episode.
