Sparkly Fox Men #01 — Equal Opportunity Fanservice

January 12th, 2012

Because girls like sparklies, right?

Impressions:

Maybe it’s just the four other… mostly mediocre… shows I’ve already watched today wearing me down, but this was just incredibly plain. Not offensive by any stretch… well.. kind of… but I’m having a hard time summoning up any kind of feelings for it at all. Production was pretty poor but at least they laid off the wind full of cherry blossoms after the first five minutes. Having hooked the female audience, they then focused on the male through repeated shots of Ririchiyo in various states of undress and/or shoving the camera right up next to her thighs while almost always having the actual panty shot just off screen or just covered by her legs. They’ve been learning. Rest assured though, fox-boy sparkles the entire episode.

Even the writing’s pretty bland. Boy Girl transfers into a new school hotel where everybody has magical powers, and finds a fox girl boy that she shares a secret past with. They practically had the characters stand in a line for the first 15 minutes or so to do their introductions and nearly literally had the characters stand in a line when it came to showing off their powers and explaining the whole hotel thing… at length… to some random idiot who basically wandered in. Hooray. Exposition to a fabricated character made up just to give exposition to. Got to love that. The biggest question I had was how the reaper girl’s panties ended up outside the rest of her clothes when she disappeared out of them. I’ll just assume she was wearing them outside her skirt. That makes the most sense.

So… I don’t know. It seems very very very plain and didn’t do anything that particularly intrigued or interested me. That’s never a good thing for a first episode that’s meant to hook you into a show though. I wasn’t as bored as I was watching a few of the other shows this season, but there was absolutely nothing here that makes me want to keep watching it either. It… exists. That’s about the highest praise and most damning criticism I can give it.

12 Shouts From the Peanut Gallery

  • MisaoFan says:

The story actually sets in mansion, not a magic academy according to what I see. The story looked like a Black Butler’s ripoff.

  • Mesousa says:

Somehow, this reminds me of Maid-Sama, which is able to appeal in both Shonen and Shoujo audiences.

Only we get more loli fanserivce, so it’s obviously not a shoujo.

  • Karry says:

Whats the name of the fucking show, you knob ?!

  • Chen says:

Oh lawd the jailbait. BAIL OUT

  • jingoi says:

I’ll bait out when the ecchi can’t blur the romance anymore.

  • The Phantom says:

I fast forwarded this episode, all I can say is that it was disgusting.

  • Wilfriback says:

    Inu X Boku.

    Thats the name, happy?

  • Callista_Rhian says:

It might be worth watching, though, as the manga (Youko x Boku SS) is slowly starting to become interesting
