The Color of Lovers #08 — Melodrama Cats
November 22nd, 2011
Good lord, ease up on the piano already.
Impressions:
Man, seriously? We’re using cats as random props to make Airi insecure now? One responds to Uryuu’s name and the other responds to Miu’s… OH THE TRAGEDY! They really need to give the piano a rest too. Well, then Sana upped her gasp of insecurity by screaming her name at the cat. The Miu cat, not the Shingo cat. I’m also a little curious how exactly they transitioned from Sana attacking Uryuu because she walked in on Miu talking about breastfeeding kittens to him pushing her on a swing. Hell, I’m not sure how you would reach two high schoolers pushing each other on a swing.
The most disturbing thing about the episode though is that it explains the origins of The Creature. The real reason Miu worked herself to exhaustion is because if she left it alone with the kittens, it would swallow them whole. Seriously. There’s a flashback showing that it has a taste for blood and is only satiated after feeding. There was also a fairly amusing coloring error towards the end when Sana grabbed Uryuu’s coat. I didn’t notice it until I was sorting through the caps, but Shingo’s coat actually absorbs part of his jacket and turns it into a sleeve. I think that animal room may just be cursed.

So it’s official. We’re heading down the Miu route? Sure doesn’t help that she’s the least entertaining character in the show for me.
