Maken-ki! #08 — Torturing an Eplileptic

November 22nd, 2011

Those ‘strange feelings’ mean that you need medication, Takeru.

Impressions:

Meh. It didn’t really kick the stupidity up into first gear until the very end. They really should have let Inaho drag around the puppet the entire episode. Hell, the entire show. Run with that. Make it a worse puppet each time until she’s trying to snuggle with a pineapple. The first two thirds of the episode though… bleh. Venus, international mercenary unit, transfers into the high school and conspires to let Celia have some alone time with Takeru, but not until after reviewing the main characters, conveniently with a slide show of them all in the bathroom. Uh, okay. At least only one was on the toilet. Yes, only.

The last three or so minutes was when the stupidity finally made it to the amusing level although still could have been ‘improved.’ Celia’s "S&M" would have also been far better if it had actually mean sadomasochism instead of song and music. I’m not exactly sure why Takeru was put into a drooling coma by it though. I can only imagine that the flashing lights sent him into epileptic shock. Of special note was the Venus member (I still can’t be bothered to learn names) who tried to stop the pair on their way to rescue Takeru. So of course, one of the pair would stop to engage her while the other continues on, right? No. They just run past her while she monologues. And then they had to bust out the super-powers to defeat the most dangerous enemy in the show to date, a wooden door. Stellar.

It’s an energy field created by all living things. It surrounds us and penetrates us. It binds the galaxy together.

Wooden doors already receive enough abuse from Dante…

On a off topic note, I really had to laugh and comment on your translation title “Operation Rusty’s Blanket”. Had no idea you also watched the Venture brothers…after all, we are not only men of science, we are men of hope. Heh
