Maken-ki!! #06 — Rocks Fall; Wet Pussies

November 8th, 2011

You heard me.

Just a friendly reminder, Japan doesn’t celebrate observe DST, so everything now effectively airs an hour earlier. I’ve still got class on Tuesday and Thursday mornings (when I deign to grace them with my presence… and after ‘learning’ how what chmod is, how to use tar to zip files, and then 25 minutes on FTP today because the professor decided that it was worth knowing how to use it from the command line like a barbarian… although someone did ask if zipping caused a loss of information… sigh… biologists… I’m not terribly wild on Thursday’s class), and I can’t see myself waking up at 6:30 am just for Working, but anyway, TIME SHIFTS.

Impressions:

Anyway, yeah. Just sorted caps in class while they were going over the prelim from last week. Yawn. I mentioned this before, but it speaks to my investment in this show that I have absolutely no idea what this character’s name is, but an entire episode of her being wet/sad/flashbacking along with finding a pet cat… well… let’s just say that I expect Mashiro to have an easy win in the stupid-off. I may or may not make an actual post after I get home and ‘watch’ it while making myself a delicious sammich. To the Aroduc-mobile and the blissful warmth of home!

Magical volleyball.

What class is that?? I really want to take that so I can sleep the entire time and still pass. Free credits!

I mean, I don’t think its even possible to install linux without learning those…

  • Chen says:

Aren’t you studying medicine or nursing or whatever career it is that you’re pursuing? Why on Earth do you need to take classes on Unix and related mumbo jumbo?

    • Aroduc says:

Imagine a dynamic programming hamming distance problem across millions of entries with a huge error rate, grouping of variables, massive natural variation, and hidden markov models underneath it. You’re looking for patterns of similar differences between two or more groups.
That’s a vastly simplified version of why genetic analysis is a mathematical nightmare.

“how to use it from the command line like a barbarian…”

I’m currently doing “barbarian” work in the IT department of considerably big company. Believe me!!! never underestimate the SHELL… Bwahahaha!

  • Veneficae says:

Isn’t chmod suppose to be one of the first thing you should always learn as a programmer? Why would a professor teach that now in the middle of a semester?
