C³ #09 — The Fetishizing Episode

November 26th, 2011

In so, so many ways.

Impressions:

A particularly blatant setup episode filled with T&A and whatnot, although the new OP caught me by surprise. Apparently Kirika’s pushing out the other heroines and taking the focus from here out despite not really having much of a role this week. Coming off such a weak arc though, I’m eager to get back into the better parts of the show and fairly random school antics ain’t our strength here. There was also a small spew of new characters, although the episode was mainly focused on Kuroe. I’m not really sure what role she’s supposed to fill though, particularly since she seems to just be Sovereignty without the breasts and with slightly more competence. And prehensile hair. And seems permanently high. She’s not annoying at least, nor causing any other characters to get angsty or insecure, so that’s kind of a plus, but she’s just kind of… there… as a very obvious plot device popping up to give a nun with an assumably magic cello case a reason to wander around. At least they didn’t feel the need to flash back to their past together. Yet.

The Kirika stuff was what I found more interesting in the episode, but that barely lasted a few seconds of her being sexually harassed before it was back off to cafes and maid/chinese waitress outfits. Otherwise, really not much happened this week besides some character intros and everything besides that was crammed into about a four minute span in the middle where they might as been waving a banner going "There’s a plot here, but we’re going to dance around it for now to stretch this out." Hopefully next week.

And yes, I see the devil spawn. Lurking. Waiting. Plotting to eat them all…

:O Finally, at least an opening that shows something of the dynamics of the story… At least better than the dance-made-op which didn’t tell us something meaningful.

    • EXM says:

To be fair. That dance op with Tamura Yukari is pretty much the reason why me and a whole bunch of other viewers decided to watch this series. Pretty weird, huh?

  • The Phantom says:

Kirika is my new favorite character, and this show is the one I like the most among everything that is airing this season.

  • The Phantom says:

Forgot to say that loved the new opening, was superb.
