I kind of wish he kept calling her that the whole show.

Impressions:

I can’t really say that I’m surprised that ‘Shiraho’ ended up secretly being a doll/Sovereignty since like I mentioned last week, it’s practically a law of anime that whenever there’s a puppet master involved, someone’s secretly a puppet, and since there’s only one named character unaccounted for coincidentally introduced at the same time, well, it doesn’t take Poirot to solve this case. At least they kept the exposition about solving the mystery brief, even if it was accompanied by some remarkably awful running animation. The dual identity seems like it could have been much better set up though, particularly since the first time we clearly see the male version of Sov, (s)he’s choking the real Shiraho with a knife at her throat before immediately transforming back.

Otherwise though, an unusually slow episode for the show centered mostly around Konoha’s recovery from the attack cooking with all of the above happening in about the last four or five minutes. The first quarter of the episode was pretty much just boob jokes and shots of Konoha’s chest slowly bursting out of her nightshirt as she feverishly writhed and stuck Haruaki’s hand into her cleavage. Then they went shopping, and had some scenery porn on an exceptionally steep stairway, and Kirika came by to share in cooking time before the Scooby Gang finally got off their keisters and went back to addressing the issue of a killer doll attacking people. Priorities, Cabbage Master, priorities.
