"Let’s have characters just sit there… and stare."

Impressions:

I just wasn’t feeling this episode. I think it’s because it was centered around Kyouko, whose entire personality is that she has no personality, so twenty minutes of fussing over a blank slate doesn’t exactly work. On the surface, it had Yamada and Poplar running around for the first half and Katanashi kidnapping a small child in the second, but they stayed rather unfortunately on topic, and when the topic is "what are Kyouko’s good points" then… well, there’s really not a whole ton to do with that. The only punchlines of note to that joke were Poplar’s, but that didn’t stop it from consuming most of the first half.

The kid was extremely dull too and basically just a tiny version of Kyouko. She just stared at Kyouko who… stared back. She may as well have been a ventriliquist dummy that Katanashi picked up off the street. That might have improved matters too instead of having a nameless child that they referred to as "Stray Kid." Just… minute after minute of Kyouko and her staring at each other. I’m not even sure what they were trying for with those scenes, but it definitely wasn’t working out.
