Yeah, this episode was a whole lot of nothing.

Impressions:

Yawn. More setup, more talking heads, more nothing of interest. This episode cold have started with the cliffhanger of Yuuji stepping off the train back into the city instead of ended with it and nothing of value would have been lost. I really do wonder sometimes about the meetings that lead to some of these particularly awful scenes. "Do we want to spend the budget to animate this fight?" "Nah. It’s not important. Okay, then after it rushes at him, we’ll just cut to the ceiling." "That’s not enough though. Make sure you shake the camera to show there was an impact." "Fantastic. Get the VAs back in here. We can squeeze another 3 minutes of exposition in now."

The funniest part of the episode was when Satou started having a panic attack on the train when his magical widget detected a Denizen approaching. He actually broke down and started screaming in agony in the middle of the train… only for it to start fading again once the train approaching them passed. That was so ridiculous and anticlimatic that again… I really wonder what this chuckleheads are thinking and why they don’t have a kid on the staff whose job is to slap the storyboarders with a trout every time they do something particularly moronic. I also wonder how he explained suddenly falling to his knees and screaming to the other the passengers, but I suppose that’s a mystery that will never be answered.
