Mayo Chiki! #10 — March of the Side-Characters
September 8th, 2011
Well, at least there was next to no Jirou.
Impressions:
Have I mentioned that I hate Masamune yet? Should I mention it again? Yes? Okay.
I hate Masamune. It was ostensibly an episode about Kureha for her birthday, but the first half was was pretty evenly split between her, Masamune, and Narumi along with a truly abhorrent insert birthday song which was basically a collection of shots of wind blowing in a meadow followed by flashbacks. And then more flashbacks. And then more flashbacks. Have I mentioned how much I hate those yet too? Just you wait though, because the flashbacks aren’t over for today yet. Good god, are we not. At least a quarter of this episode, all in the second half, takes place in Kureha’s flashbacks of past birthdays. Kureha can’t even manage to stay relevant in the present time frame. For an episode focused on her, she didn’t actually do much of anything except sit there while the rest of the cast made a fuss around her while occasionally spawning random unneeded memories to make up what passes for character development in this show.
Now… on to more flashbacks!
Preview:
Oh no! Our only weakness… stairs.

I hate Kureha. What the frak is wrong with her? Why would you assault your brother knowing he can’t stand being touched by girls? Other than IkaMusu? and Persona4, the next anime season doesn’t look promising, just like this one and the one before it.
