A Dark Rabbit Has Glowing Sexual Organs #12 — What Were You Expecting?
September 23rd, 2011
You’re better than this, Zexcs. Where’s your claymation censoring?
Impressions:
Man, this show can’t even do shameless T&A episodes without characters feeling sorry for themselves. Even when their erogenous zones are glowing like beacons to let the clueless males of their universe know where to go, they still can’t help but mope around. Heck, even Izumi was letting down the side here. Not minutes before, she was perfectly sober and groping THE DREAD WITCH GODDESS, DESTROYER OF WORLDS. So then she gets drunk (the real twist is that she’s drunk on alcohol) and starts giving an exceptionally pithy speech about the salad days of their lives. What are you doing, Zexcs? That is not how alcohol works in anime. Do you know nothing?
Nothing else to really see here. Wacky ‘fanservice’ antics where strangely and sadly, the guys side ended up being far more engaging than the girls before a generic little "the adventure still goes on" quasi montage of two of the show’s only three characters who weren’t naked this episode. This show betrays all attempts to predict what it’ll do to the very end.
Final thoughts at the bottom.
Final Thoughts:
If there had to be one overwhelming problem to rule them all for this show, it would be the pacing. Thankfully, instead of just always being too slow like many shows are wont to be, we covered both ends of the spectrum nearly equally, both spending far too much time on mundane and inane things that were of no interest at all and cannoning forward through important developments with nary a shred of attention paid to giving them enough time and development to actually have any impact. The characters couldn’t really carry it either since the central ones were powered by angst and the antagonists were all but missing for most of the show. Izumi and Mirai were both good at least, although they really had absolutely nothing to do with… well… anything. But it was like they were there just to balance out everybody else having nothing better to do than feel sorry for themselves.
So this was overall pretty much just a mess. Everything having to do with Haruka was particularly badly handled and she was unfortunately central to a lot of it. Despite a promising second episode and a few interesting ones that quickly followed it, nothing ever really came together after that and plotlines predicated on nothing more than characters being insecure and indecisive get old extremely fast, let alone after over a month of nothing but hemming and hawing. At least the pacing was wonky enough to keep the show fairly unpredictible and thus amusing to write about, but that sure as hell is not a recommendation to invest your time into it.

Clay censors-Do you mean like Macademi Wasshoi’s censorship?
This is the 4th ItsuTen ep worth watching for me.
