The Mystic Archives of Dantalian #05 — Mighty Morphin’ Dapper Gentlemen

Sigh. This show…

Impressions:

I think the main point of me watching this show these days is that it puts me in a more receptive mood for Rabbit. This episode was all over the bloody place. It was all so badly overacted that I thought it was meant to be just lame comedy, particularly when the guy in a cape and monacle showed up floating in the air above everybody. Except… apparently we were supposed to take him seriously for some reason. He’s a ‘real mage’, whatever the hell that means, with a runaway ‘daughter’/creation that attracts only ponces.

On the upside, at least Hugh and Dalian actually interacted with the plot this week for a few moments. The show seems to have yet to figure out that even episodic shows should be focused on the main characters. Still, Hugh did shoot his gun a couple times, so that’s a vast improvement over the last two weeks. That was completely pointless though, so it was up to the old cutaway to read a book while the enemy charges up a spell lasting over a minute and patiently waited until they turned the entire group of Viola’s suitors into glowing sentai to chase ‘daddy’ dearest off without actually doing anything but standing around her. Then she jumps into the arms of her true lover, a swarthy Spaniard. Like I said, the episode was all over the place.

3 Shouts From the Peanut Gallery

  • Aex says:

At least Armand was thoroughly abused, so that was good. Wouldn’t mind him and his dramatic idiocy getting shot-down by girls being a running gag. As long as Dalian always gives him the boot.

The ending was pretty great though lol. “Thanks for saving me! Now I’m gonna run off with this guy I just met that didn’t do jack to save me!” Sigh.

  • Athos says:

I don’t know what you talking about. That was ******* hilarious. I guess I missed the cue where I was supposed to start taking it seriously.

Well, I admit the part where they start reading the magic books was kind of disturbing, what with their eyes moving all over the place and stuff.

But, other than that, best episode ever.

  • Maria Gunawna says:

well I kinda dissapoint with the character appear, Armand Jeremiah, because when i read in wiki( before he appear) that he’s involved with gensho because of his grilfriend i thought like this…

His girlfriend persuade him to steal gensho book but he failed many time and Huey and Dalian doesn’t know and what’s more interesting if his girlfriend is dead and her sprit is within Armand. And he’s charcater is not… a sopaopera type but innocent, polite , not dramatic and calm and cheerful. Also friend of Huey instead of Huey is his lietenant……

But i enjoy the anime as always and the funny part and awesome are part is when Dalian want to kick Armand but Heuy isnetad kick him with more forced and Huey take out his gun and start to shoot the fairy creature :D.
