A Dark Rabbit Has Seven Lives #06 — Molesting Furniture
August 12th, 2011
This has been a weird morning for anime.
Stupid slow Japan and stupid hardcoded N2 subs… Grr…
Impressions:
This episode was just as all over the place as Dantalian’s, but far more amusing. Aside from character intros though, it really went nowhere but ground that’s already been treaded quite flat enough with Himea and Saito. The first half was mainly concerned with introducing a bevy of characters, Taito’s sister, a snoopy classmate who wants onto the student council, and the student council’s advisor who is in love with the school, which is apparently also personified as a ghostly girl wandering around inside of itself. He shows his love by fondling and licking her walls. Oh, there’s also the reveal that Haruka’s alternate personality is likely a bit unhinged and plotting to kill the moon gods, but compared to the new good guy who licks plaster, that seems a little blasé. Snoopy girl does have some potential at least. She earned points by not being alarmed or irritating when finding a man on fire in the girl’s bathroom. That goes a long way.
Of course, then they drop all of that so Mirai and Himea can ask their men out on dates. Mirai ends up getting her date anyway thanks to someone cursing all the hotspots in town. Note that they never actually said who, and Mirai likely does not have the brain power for such an ‘intricate’ scheme, but it seriously involved the line "I must score a perfect on this Karaoke machine to remove this curse." Unlike Dantalian though, it was much more clear that Zexcs was in fact just screwing around. Meanwhile, Taito blew off Himea so he could get stronger with the end goal of being around Himea. Thankfully, the show’s breakneck pacing worked for it in this case and he realized his own stupidity in about 2 minutes of actual Taito screen-time and walked in on Himea fondling his desk. Zexcs actually did a montage/insert right by just letting it replace the ED, so kudos to you, Zexcs.
