Yuruyuri #03 — Mysteries of Hair

July 18th, 2011

I have no idea how Chinatsu’s giant hair fits through necks of shirts.

Impressions:

There was more focus on Kyouko and her overactive imagination, so that was a good start at least, but the entire conversation about forgetting things at the start was banality at its finest. Then a minor distraction by the potentials of Akari’s hairbuns before they got to the main theme of the episode and it became retroactively obvious that they had just decided to add the random space filling putzing around at the start of the episode instead of the end. I am not fooled by your Jedi mind tricks, Dogakobo.

It was a little better than last week at any rate, but still nowhere near week one. I really really wish they could find a fraction of that energy again, especially visually, but it appears that Mitsudomoe’s staff really will be treading the exact same road as it already did twice before despite the new studio. Kyouko again had basically the only decent jokes, popping up out of nowhere to be naked and wet to try to clamp onto Chinatsu, and/or creepy about rubbing Yui’s various things against herself. The rest of the cast… well… they continue to have ridiculous hair. …And that’s about it.

Preview:

Obligatory beach episode.

TENTACLES in MY yuri animu? Is nothing sacred anymore?

  • Rincewind says:

    Kyouko is awesome, as always.
She´s the protagonist after all. Chinatsu and Yuri are ok, but Kyouko is the soul of the protagonist trio!

I wonder if this show is going to avoid letting us know if these girls have a father.
