Idiots, Tests, and Summoned Beasts #15 — Japanese Sexuality

…This episode was very pastel.

Impressions:

Given how often these girls force their men into drag and display them for a bunch of men to gawk over, there’s probably a lot of therapy waiting for a number of them even before they get to their collective complicated feelings about Hideyoshi. Unfortunately though, this was just a continuation of the previous paddingtastic episode, now with padded bras on the guys. I’m sure there was a time when these long and painful cross dressing jokes were fresh and hilarious, but we’ve gone so far past the point of saturation that when shows like Freezing just have a straight idol competition with no penises whatsoever, it somehow feels completely different from the norm.

This is the one show where the random school putzing around is the best part of the show instead of an excuse to fill up time… so of course, the show refuses to spend any time on it. Go fight Class D to a draw or something. Or lose your fungus-infested cardboard box desks. Just get back to your real strengths, damn it. The filler comedy’s okay enough to pass the time, but this show has so much more potential than that and has shown it many times before. Get back to school and beat each other with miniaturized versions of yourselves already.

  • Travis says:

    So…

    Aiko and sunflowers, huh..?

    Hrmn…

Yeah, well, you’ve already screencapped this, so I’ll probably skip. I will find it interesting if that Rabbity thing ends up being your best pick of the season – it does seem like a pretty limited crop of offerings, mind.

I find myself more drawn to the show’s visual aspects than to the given plot of any episode.
