A Dark Rabbit Has Seven Lives #02 — Burning Discharges
July 15th, 2011
I guess I’ll cave and use Niconico’s titling.
Impressions:
Much better. Kind of. Ignoring the cliffhanger and starting with five minutes of flashback was irritating. Then we finally got back to the cliffhanger… only to have Himea immediately heal the wound and ignore it. Theeeeen we got a little silly with a magical girl transformation sequence and having Mirai suspended in midair for the better part of a minute on Himea’s barrier before she basically disappeared from the rest of the episode. I assumed that electric weasels would try to hog the spotlight more.
BUT! Aside from that, adding some actual action and some testicles to Taito helped the show a lot. I rolled my eyes a little bit at the sudden team up againt his now-monocled brother (seriously, how do you mistake those two for being each other?), but hey, it’s still worlds beyond anything the first episode did. They also did a fairly good job alluding to the limitations of Taito’s powers before everything was pretty much laid out. I still wouldn’t say that it’s the strongest action series that I’ve ever seen, but this was much closer to what I’ve grown to expect from Zexcs. Not stellar, but competent and watchable enough given the relative lack of anything else. Hopefully it won’t go the way of LoLH.
