Tigger and Rabbit #12 — The Cell Games
June 18th, 2011
All we need is Wakamoto and we can have a real party.
Impressions:
Remember a couple episodes ago when Jake was disturbingly bedraggled and using ‘fire’ to draw creepy deathscapes and/or standing over the corpses of Barny’s parents? Or last week when he was preaching to kill all humans with bombs and let the mutants reign supreme? Well, this week, they decided to have him dance around, sip tea, ramble about his soup, and host Ouroboros TV where he spins wheels, draw cards, etc in order to decide which hero he would humiliate. Not kill. Just humiliate. And apparently he does just have one power, barriers. Which he can shoot like beams. And use as a blowtorch. And most surprisingly of all given all the forme… use as barriers. The less you think about it, the better. It’s actually kind of impressive that nobody knew about this given that he’s fought heroes before… and was in jail for a decade… and appaently using his power to draw on walls during that time.
Still, it could have been at least a decent actualy episode if the fights weren’t so lame. Hell, one of them wasn’t even shown. Bison got relegated to an off-screen "instant defeat." Origami did little more than somehow manage to leap 20 feet into the air onto a wall before getting knocked down with barrier beams, and Sky High just shot lots of energy balls while Jake stood there. Tiger was the closest they came to a real fight, but there was still very little choreography or effort put into it. Jake just hopped around a few times as the incredible CG blur whizzed across the screen, then hit Tiger with… you guessed it… more barrier beams. And then Tiger’s power ran out and he tripped, which, in a fit of truly spectacular and appropriate writing for the scene, somehow became a cartwheel that hit Jake in the face.
Sigh. Sunrise.
Oh yeah, and Rabbit’s throwing a hissy fit about Tigger jumping into his garden when he said he would take the lead. I’m really not sure which I’m supposed to be more annoyed at, Tiger for dicking around and going against the carefully laid (ha) plan while thousands of lives are at stake, or Rabbit for throwing a hissy fit and running off to listen to opera during the same.
Preview:
Hopefully some effort will actually be put into Bunny-boy’s fight.

Glad I’m not the only one. They were both dumbasses today.
