Impressions:

I didn’t enjoy this episode anywhere near as much as the first one, but I did say that I didn’t like Kotone all that much. Making her the big dog at her dojo and beating up dozens of burly men daily was a step in the positive direction, but most of the rest was not. The bigger problem is that this started taking the girls’ infatuation with Misshi in strange and frankly unpleasant directions. I’m okay with them using it as a joke because he was a child soft tennis prodigy (assuming such things even exist), but then Lizzie showed up and apparently has a childhood promise with him to get married… and he pulled Kotone out of some old angsty spell in the past so her crush on him is apparently really a thing and now all of a sudden he’s gone from apathetic teacher that they make jokes about to the center of a cliched love triangle.

As for Lizzie herself, the last member of the tennis team, she started out well with using her foreigner power to out-bread Asuna with that particular bad cliche, but otherwise… meh. She’s honestly kind of a pain to even listen to with her very broken Japanese. After the bread and introduction though, the most entertaining thing she did was magic tricks in the background with Kurusu. And then she added very out-of-place romantic conflict into a show that was previously about naked girls molesting giant salamanders. That’s… so unfortunate. I do like Misshi himself because he barely even notices them half the time, but I kind of want him to just quietly back out of the show so the whole angle with him, Liz, and Kotone just vanishes and is never brought up again.
