Freezing #09 — “She Don’t Know Yet”
March 4th, 2011
And I guess now she never will.
Impressions:
Well, I’m a little bit glad that this show seems to have decided to actually have some kind of conclusion arc. I’m not glad that it’s something that has really nothing to do with any of the events that have happened to date. Hell, they spent about 80% of this episode on a girl from the East Genetics school that was eaten by a Nova by the end of the episode along with the rest of her school/squad. What little wasn’t spent on her was just talking heads and an information dump and Kazuya going back to his sister complex which has turned Bridg angsty for the final bit. Even under the best of circumstances, "She’s special because she reminds me of my sister" is creepy.
So yeah. There’s not a whole lot else to say because most of this episode was spent introducing and then immediately killing a character with next to no input from any of the protagonists except for Kazuya hanging around the place. Cathy didn’t even have much of a personality to begin with and her flashback to fighting Bridget seems really oddly placed after spending the last month or so showing how Bridget’s psychopathic side is in remission. She just doesn’t even seem to fit in well with her "allies shouldn’t fight" attitude after the last two months of girls slitting each other’s throats with a smile while the school tacitly sponsors it. Maybe the Nova’s going to now spit out an evil version of her or something and give all her morality stuff a little more meaning, but frankly, I think we’re just going to see lots and lots of Bridg angsting over Kazuya.
