Is This a Zombie? #08 — Love and Stupidity

February 28th, 2011

Okay, I’m tired of this now. Let’s get back to sky whales.

Impressions:

Bleh. This show is not a romance and needs to stop pretending like it can sell any kind of romantic angle at all. At least they’re limiting it to just Haruna, but they seriously need to leave the whole marriage thing to the realm of gag comedy, please. Watching Haruna completely devolve into a whiny possessive little brat is just pathetic. Mael’s not really doing much of anything particularly interesting either, and I really don’t like how friend C also seems to have a crush on Ayumu. What the hell happened in episode 7? Did Ayumu’s animal magnetism suddenly erupt and all the women can’t help but want a piece of zombie meat? Bleh.

It also didn’t really help that absolutely nothing happened this week until the end. Sera got some magic letter whose contents weren’t shown, and there was some guy hanging out in the mall that then disappeared with Eu at the very end. After the episode with Kyouko where things went into overdrive, I feel extremely let down by this getting mired in cliche, awful romance of all things. Get back to the off-kilter comedy, damn it. That’s where your strength is with this one. Or at the very least, spend another whole episode with the girls in the bath or having sex dreams about Ayumu.

20 Shouts From the Peanut Gallery

  • Even Delusion Eu was kinda boring this week.

  • Jack says:

I’d like to see Ayumu kiss Eu. I wonder what would happen to the world if Eu fell in love…

GOOD GOD when did they install solar flares in the dressing rooms?!

Also, calling an upsurge in drama next week. Most likely especially at the very end of next episode.

  • Bala says:

“then disappeared with Eu and Sera at the very end”

I LOL’d… but seriously, you need glasses :D

    Sera is still there.

  • Mesousa says:

    Ugh. It’s a Harem now?

Studio Deen was able to NOT make Higurash a Harem, and they made nearly 60 episodes of that.

  • Battler says:

So this episode implies the ninja girl is going to die?

    THAT FACE,THAT FACE,THAT FACE,THAT FACE!

  • Jack says:

This episode came across like the “THEY’RE ALL GOOD FRIENDS AND NOW THEY’RE GOING TO DIE” episode.

It seems like these shows set it up so the audience falls in love the “the group” (as a group) and then the rest of the season is spent trying to break them up with various members being eviscerated while others leave to pursue their original quest.

So…I maybe this was that episode. They’re all cute together, everyone wants them to stay together, but Gainax just took over animation duties, and now everyone must die, but oh, here’s a giant floating head.

  • Aex says:

Thought it was pretty good, Mael being a pretty good character IMO. Sera’s still a pain with her 0% “dere”, but I guess that’s her role… I also don’t really think Haruna has changed, really. She’s always been selfish and psychotic, and now she wants to add Ayumu to her list of possessions. Wasn’t a great episode, but it wasn’t horrible.

Although, if Yuu disappears because of that guy, then this show could go downhill at a frightening pace…

  • jingoi says:

Does Sera ever have any “dere” moments with Ayumu?

  • Ubu Roi says:

There’s been a couple of times during battles she’s forgotten herself and treated him with respect; she even smiled a bit once.

And what’s with all that “random guy” BS? Nobody recognized the King of Night?

    • Nanaya says:

I figured it was him – not so much from the mood or his behavior, but because he and ayumu both have the same sort of flat look which seems to be this series’ ‘zombie face.’
