Freezing #05 — ~De Arimasu

February 4th, 2011

One of the less irritating Japanese speech ticks.

Impressions:

Oh boy. Three literally random girls just out to beat people up. That’s really kind of the main problem with this episode. If they were trying to show off that Rana was a badass, they should have pitted her against someone that mattered. Ganessa’s just sitting around having her breasts fondled. At least she has her priorities right. Still, toss her in there to show that De Arimasu is super talented. Don’t use three random people that I doubt we’ll ever see again with the motivation of "I hates them protagonists." Being able to beat Hiiragi with ease does not a threatening antagonist make. Also, those daisy dukes needed to be a lot shorter if they were going to be hot. Plus, I think that girl has some kind of stomach disorder because this does not look healthy.

That leaves De Arimasu’s sort of aborted introduction and Kazuya’s brief attempt at badassery as the main attractions of the episode. Unfortunately, the effort of being a badass was too much for Kazuya and he fainted after a few steps. Great work, dude. As for De Arimasu, eh. She’s okay. I guess she serves her point in creating a well-adjusted rival for Bridget since she started opening up and accepting Kazuya, but neither Bridget-Beta nor De Arimasu seem like they fit very well into the setting. I see her point, but like a lot of things in this show involving the protagonists, it’s been a lot of noise without actually going anywhere. This episode just had very little violence or humorous Kazuya stupidity to cover for it.

Chains with bloomers is NOT good accessorizing.

    What about degozaru?

  • DMZ says:

The manga introduced Rana better, but I suppose they just did this for time constraints.

So Rana the impoverished country bumpkin from the wastelands of Tibet (iirc from manhwa) likes nothing better than eating Italian pasta, and building perfect grade Gundam models…O_o…yeah right.

    • Okita says:

      LMAO

    • Pseud says:

I think it’s safe to say these are the preferences she adopts after arriving at Genetics. In the manhwa she’s introduced to pasta by Kazuya buying her a plate of it.

The model-building hobby is pretty wacky, though.

  • Someone says:

Is it just me, or did the station showing this pulled and Ikkitousen and Queen’s Blade, by showing it in a cropped full screen, only to be in proper widescreen on DVD/blu-ray?

  • SHADOW says:

It is best Ikkitousen and queen’s blade
( queen’s blade with the action of freezing is a dream for me )

  • SHADOW says:

the fight in it episode is very bad, not blood not violence, single punch.

    • Dynellen says:

Well you can blame the anime production for that, in the manwha they were attacked by local thugs and through blackmail it involved the girls taking of their clothes and some bullets shot through both legs etc. ;)

  • SHADOW says:

the first episode has a excellent fight girls vs girls
after the violence in the fights is low and the fanservice is hight.

    • Yue says:

It’s all about profit. Which, do you think, will sell more to fanservice-loving otaku? Simple.

Violence irks many weak-willed people. Fanservice offsets any serious themes like the concept of war, tragedy, crime, poverty, sin…

So much so, that this is a generally accepted form of entertainment. Gah, I delved too deep. SOMEONE PUBLISH A THESIS ON THIS!

  • Wilfriback says:

No, the fight from Yumekui Merry was evenmore awful, nobody got a frking hit.
    Really!
