Voice Work! #01 — Vacuum Crotch BLAST

November 16th, 2010

Quick! Someone plug that vagina!

Ya heard me.

Impressions:

From the brand new Studio Gokumi comes another in the seemingly endless list of shows built around the singular concept of "look how much we know about the industry" while actually being absolutely nothing like it, unless you believe that the voice acting studio for porn games is half a step above an orgy. The most amusing thing to me about the whole thing was the censorship. Don’t let the caps deceive you. They were carefully selected to keep this ostensibly a PG-17 blog. This was slightly more pornographic than Yosuga thanks to Kanna’s imagination continuously running wild and the fact that she goes into heat from having anything stuck into her mouth, her own fingers included. I also would like to know what that vacuum blast emitting from her crotch at the end was. I think that’s the kind of thing you want to have checked by a doctor.

There’s nothing ambitious at all about the production here. It’s not bad, but it’s certainly not impressive either. It rarely looked cheap, but that’s a far cry from looking good. The ‘plot’ as it were is very cookie cutter and lame as well. Kanna spent the first half trying to get used to saying things like "pussy" and "penis" (I cannot imagine how traumatized the Japanese are by sex ed), and the second half was about 75% her trying to imagine having sex and fellating hands. I think that all the sex imagination is probably meant to be the selling point of the show, because it sure ain’t the comedy. I’ll admit that I had fun laughing at all the censorship and mentally mocking all the weird crap they were trying to sell about the industry, but about the only decent joke that wasn’t "Kanna turns into a slut in front of people" was her suddenly having the sudden urge to stick a cellphone down her pants. Maybe that’s where she caught the vacuum crotch from.

Anyway, it was more porn than watchable, so I doubt I’ll check out the next one in the series, but at least it was more stomachable and better made than the Abnormal Psych OVA from a couple months back. Not exactly a ringing endorsement, but it didn’t really inspire any particular hatred in me either. It’s certainly not good, but Japan’s been producing a whole lot more that’s worse as of late. At least this is consistent in its presentation… even if said presentation is at least 10% finger fellating.

  • Ravage says:

Mweh, the manga is pretty fun to read every now and then, even if the story and characters are nothing special. Then again, I quite liked this when it was still called “Puberty Crazies”.

    >_>

  • Mesousa says:

    Is that a greem penis?

  • Hexmage says:

Whoa, what the H? They made this into an anime?

…Now I want to see a Franken Fran anime for some unholy reason.

  • Hinano says:

    what the hell…/goes to watch

  • Kaisos says:

“I cannot imagine how traumatized the Japanese are by sex ed.”

Actually, I somehow get the impression they don’t HAVE mandatory sex ed. Which explains quite a bit.

    • Aroduc says:

I think Japanese schoolchildren are simply released onto the internet and told to figure it out themselves in a journey of discovery and sexual trauma which has led to their low birthrates.

      • Kaisos says:

Like I said, it explains quite a bit.

      • Anonymous says:

This would actually explain a whole lot about why Japan is… well Japan.

Also I’ve been looking forward to this OVA. I had a feeling it wouldn’t be anything stellar (the manga runs on constantly trying to balance itself between NOT-PORN and PORN) but I’ll be glad to watch it in animated form.

      • Travis says:

Weirdly enough, in spite of (or perhaps because of) the emphasis placed on filal piety, pureness and kawaisa-ish behavior, in defiance of Japan’s low birthrate, the teen sexual activity rate is really high over there, often at increasingly young ages.

Part of me thinks it’s in rebellion to the moralizing in a lot of anime, part of me thinks that anime moralizes so much because of producers trying to hold on to a time that never was, and part of me is just like – WTF.

        Japan.

More to the point of this – did everytime they were ‘in motion’ look really cel-shaded? I mean, more so than usual? Like, borderlands cel-ish? Or was it just me?

      • rufe says:

fascinating that the data I’ve seen show that Japanese people have sex for the first time at an older age than Americans or most (all?) of Europe.

  • cutemi2 says:

for those who want to become a voice actor/actress/dubber, good luck….you’ve get trauma when you dubbed this

  • Keith 'Azure Grimoire' Kurogane says:

What the? Arudoc… you made me curious… again!
    Now searching for this anime…

  • SOSAnimeBoy says:

WTF… I just got up to date with the scanlations for this manga. This is so bizarre, that they’d do an anime for this…

    Next up, Onani King anime!!
