A Certain Lesbian Teleporter II #06 — When In Doubt, Be Naked
November 12th, 2010
I was led to believe that there’d be more stabbing and less yapping.
Impressions:
Extremely dull and poorly handled episode. Particularly the transitions from one scene to the next, or rather, the total lack of them. I suppose it could be said that at least it’s moving quickly through this arc since after the dull underwear shopping scene at the start, it began disjointly leaping from one exposition dump to another… mostly taking place in bathrooms… but it’s all just generic plot without any actual emotion or soul. Said plot being just Kuroko starting to gather bits and pieces of the Sisters incident, but really not making a tremendous amount of sense along the way. Also, we’re into the Shana model of exposition now. "If you have something to say, the cast should be naked." At least a third of the episode took place naked, which should already give you an idea of how action packed it was.
I want to like the new villain, Awaki, what with stabbing Kuroko repeatedly, knowing how to thwart her, and her willingness to teleport human bodies around her as mobile meat shields, but aside from that, she really has absolutely no personality whatsoever. She appears, steals the briefcase "carry case," and then spends the better part of the next five minutes reviewing her dastardly plans like she’s a refuge from a 70s Bond movie. Blah blah blah. "You know nothing" blah blah blah "Misaka Mikoto" blah blah blah "Now I’m just going to wander off." At least drop her into a pool of laser sharks or something before you go. Even the director got bored enough to think that turning the camera upside down would be a good idea. Of course, compared to the five minutes of watching naked Kuroko talk on the phone and through a door, perhaps that was genius after all. Nice to see that along with the crappy Railgun cast we get the crappy Railgun budget.
Preview:
Dramatic faces! Maybe Misaka and Accel will get more than 20 seconds screentime.
