Shiki #07 — Stalling Out of the Grave

August 19th, 2010

So much for forward progress.

Impressions:

Damn it, Shiki. You were threatening to make progress on the plot front last week. And now this week half of it is going "Hey, hold on, time out. Let’s think things over. There’s not reason to rush anything. Why break into a castle of vampires for direct proof when you can just dig up the body of your friend? Not now though, we better wait half a week. It’s not like there’s anything dangerous going on like the undead rising from their graves and attacking the town." The timestamps are really doing nothing but killing my suspension of disbelief here.

The other half of it was Cathead teaching Masao the vampire facts of life. Unfortunately, Masao’s just as crappy of a vampire as he was a human. If anything, his throaty whimpering made him even more annoying than his usual whiny self. Move, already. Two months and the characters are just now beginning to theorize that undead may be involved and are going on the most circuitous methods possible to discuss and investigate it. Hell, given the cliffhanger that led into this episode, I wouldn’t be surprised if next week began with the kids chickening out of digging up Megumi and decided to plant little crosses around her grave instead.

  • Nanaya says:

Planting crosses around the grave of a suspected undead/vampire seems way more intelligent than directly digging it up.

  • Pronas says:

    >Implying after two months, Megumi’s body won’t be just bones and maggots everywhere.
