Impressions:

Sekirei’s on that same kind of weird DVD release schedule that Working is on which comes from airing its first episode a month early. With the first DVD/Blu Ray comes a prologue episode which is mostly just an excuse to have the Sekirei run around in their skivvies. It is far preferable to spitting out this kind of filler episode during the main run though, particularly with the question of how Yukari didn’t notice Musubi’s Sekirei mark while groping her or how Shiina wouldn’t have seen Kuu with all the Sekirei gathered in the same couple buildings for an entire day.

They hit all the generic fanservice show high points in one go, the physical examination, the beach trip, and the hot springs bath, with Benitsubasa destroying most of them, saving Homura the pain of deciding where he/she’s supposed to be. I can’t really blame Beni either. Poor girl is the whipping boy of this series. The twin tails also do not work on Tsukiumi or Musubi at all. I’m not even sure what the hell Musubi was wearing either. She looks like she should be holding up the round number in the middle of a boxing match.

There was also a very very long joke preview for the next ‘episode’ that was made up by doing new voice overs of clips from the last season, but capping that has no real value. Also, with this eyecatch, Seven Arcs has now fulfilled its quota of putting either Nanoha or giant burly sweaty oily men in every one of their shows. Good work, team.
