Working!! #11 — Noooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!

Oh, the humanity!

Impressions:

This is the absolute worst kind of episode. They did the unthinkable and focused mostly on Raging Lesbian Poplar and Super Waitress Yamada for the first five minutes, completely blowing all their great jokes all in one go, and after ten minutes of Satou/Yachiyo, it was back to more Poplar and Yamada, mostly the latter. Now we’ll always know what the show could have been. Just ramp up Poplar’s attraction to dragqueens and replace Inami completely with Yamada, and… winner.

Of course, then Inami killed The Claw. Curse you, A-1. Callously offing the best character just like that. Actually, there was a lot weird/off about this episode, even aside from the long period of time spent in the flashback where everybody had slightly different hair. They also had a few different scene transitions. That’s… an odd change to make 80% of the way through the show.

Humorous invective aside, this was definitely one of the most enjoyable episodes to date. Yamada has that kind of of effect on everything. Aside from destroying The Claw, Inami was a little more tolerable for once too. She still can’t hold a candle to the Super Waitress, but she at least kept the stupid murderous rage in check for most of the episode, even when alone in Katanashi’s room wearing someone else’s flimsy nightdress, even if she does suck at Old Maid.

A… Poplar episode? Really?

    GREATEST ANIMAY EVAR

  • sage says:

    U JUST MAD
    CUZ SHES POPLAR

  • Nanaya says:

I knew it… always watch out for an episode where the title is nothing but “[characters name].” The title WAS “Claw,” right?

  • OneSin says:

whats next ? Takanashi’s whole family go to the restaurant and finds him crossdressing while Poplar glomp on him ?

  • Aex says:

They offed the Claw without a moment’s hesitation! EVIL!!!

That aside, great episode! The way things are going, Miharu and Souta are gonna end up in a shotgun wedding before this is done, which I’m totally fine with!

Yamada really is the best part of the show though, it’s just gotten better since she came along… why didn’t she show up earlier in the series!?! WHY???

  • Haesslich says:

Thank God – a Poplar episode, and it turns out she’s lesbian for Kotori-chan. Poor Souta. :D

Also, I love how they did the obvious ‘so, what do boys and girls alone together do’ joke…. only to have Yamada guess right for a change and join in. With the promise of more Poplar (finally) for the next episode, I couldn’t be happier with the way it’s drawing to a close. Unlike, say, some other shows of the past few seasons (Haruhi S2, Angel Beats).

  • Milenkov says:

    …Poplar is Popular? XD

  • Pozzy says:

    NOOOOO!!! THE CLAW!!!

WHAT HAVE YOU DONE A-1? WHY??

as an aside, more poplar… YAY!

  • dbm says:

Speaking of Yamanda, what I want to know is, is Yamada the female waitress who sometimes appears with glasses, and looks a bit like Ninamori from FLCL?

    • Myssa Rei says:

Nope, that’s Mitsumoto (sp?) Maya, and she’s been there since the start of the season, but has yet to speak a word in-series. She’s described in the series website as “more Normal than Normal”, which explains why she’s not part of the other Wagnaria staff shenanigans.

  • Kaisos says:

God this show is such a relief to watch after struggling through Wasted Potential Beats.

    • Myssa Rei says:

You mean ‘rushed with too much loose ends’ Beats? :P

It is amazing how things came together in Working (and similarly, B Gata H Kei)though.

  • Leo Khan says:

NOOOOOO!!! Yamada finally won me over in this episode. XD Agreed this was an enjoyable episode. Poor Poplar the show actually mocked itself about her! LOL. But I need MOAR Nazuna!!! Also R.I.P. “The Claw” He stood as the only defense against a true monster. Anybody else notice Souma didn’t appear at all in this episode? :D

  • Loveya says:

    Poplar! Poplar! Poplar!
    We need more Poplar.

  • Yue says:

This is the absolute worst kind of episode.

    Just what we need, more Sato~Yachi misunderstandings. Oh for the love of kendo, draw out that katana and strike at that one~sided romance. ^^;

I say, there’s too much glory for girls found here. What happened to the men!?

  • Albedo says:

Watch the next episode have 5 minutes of Poplar before going back to more AWESOME Inami-chan.

I sense that the claw might be back in the end unless that was meant to be some sort of positive movement concerning her relationship with Katanashi.
