Working!! #07 — A Ghost Did It
May 16th, 2010
"So that’s why you said you had to go meet that ghost."
Impressions:
I like how all of Inami’s tendencies just stop at convenient times. I really shouldn’t complain since it makes the show more interesting, but it just shows how inane Inami’s entire terrible deal is. Let’s not dwell on her though.
This episode was mostly focused on the new character, ‘Yamada’ Aoi, who is already improving the show dramatically and made most of this episode rather fun. She is a bit shy, which is irritating, but she’s also quite strange and a pathological liar, but quite bad at it, to the point where she introduces herself with a fake name, which she doesn’t even remember to respond to half the time. She’s also adopted Otou and Yachiyo as her father and mother for reasons beyond mortal ken and begs the two to get married. Her habit of growling at Satou is also worthy of note. She should do more of that. Hell, let’s have Poplar hide in the corner and growl at him too. Growl at anybody really.
The second half wasn’t as good as the first, but it was still a lot better than this show normally is. Souma’s not a particularly interesting character when he’s not instigating problems elsewhere. Yamada also basically completely overtook his role of information-broker by stating what is obvious to everybody with half a brain. Yeah, the standards for intelligence in this show are pretty low. That wasn’t helped by the particularly inane conclusion to Yachiyo learning that Satou likes her either. Ghosts. GHOSTS. Oh well. Like I said, most of the cast here is trying to play Pinochle with a handful of dice.
Preview:
I like how the second time that this show manages to leave the restaurant, it ends up at a hot springs.
