Nothing more than… feelings.

Impressions:

Not a very good episode, thanks in large part to the overblown melodrama surrounding the ending that has been obvious to anybody with half a brain since about four minutes into episode 1. Kosuda finally tells Yamada he likes her, and she freaks out for him bringing feelings into her little sex delusions, making him think that she doesn’t like him. Bleh. Her emotional immaturity is part of her charm, but this was a bit much, especially after she spent the entire episode obsessing over him. I am glad that they just played off Kosuda’s aborted confession for a few cheap puns but nobody actually misunderstood it. I think School Rumble went an entire season based on people assuming strange things off cut-off words. Not that being more intelligent than the School Rumble cast is a particularly laudable thing, but I was rolling my eyes and groaning when it happened.

Very little else of note this week. Misato finally graduated to me paying enough attention to her to remember her name instead of thinking of her as "that girl with buns." On the other hand, when she steals the episode, you know the rest of the cast is in trouble. The stuff with the monks was amusing enough I suppose, but it really reeked of them just throwing something in to fill ninety seconds and was more or less just a rundown of each character’s cliche. Still, given the meldrama that followed, I’ll take what I can get.
