Betrayal Knows My Name #01 — Sexual Identity Crisis

April 11th, 2010

Is a bishie really a bishie if it used to be a girl?

Impressions:

Maaaaaan. If the episode itself had been anything like the OP, I’d be on board. Sure, I’d still make fun of it for being fruitier than Carmen Miranda’s Hat Boutique, but I survived JCStaff’s ninja man-boy love affair escapades with only superficial wounds. Plus, this has the added bonus of the lead bishie apparently being the reincarnation of the girlfriend of one of the other protagonists. The potential for the jokes there is… well… it’s simply fantastic. Of course, I can’t keep all these bishies straight anyway, pun not intended. There are at least two or three now with longish black hair, and if the evil glasses one removed his glasses, I’m pretty sure I’d have him confused for the others too. Or maybe they just are all the same person and it’s the Sailor Moon thing where wearing slightly different clothing is enough to completely mask your identity.

In any case, there was absolutely none of the action that the OP promised this week. Instead, Sailor Uranus née Brunestud wandered around town for awhile, got a couple death threats from a guy who hates him because… Uranus tried to be nice to him… stopped a bully, and then got saved from one of the more inane plans I’ve seen. Apparently the villain can telekinetically drive trucks, create illusions, paralyze people, and watch you pee. One would think (most of) these skills could be combined in a more intelligent manner than luring Uranus into the street, paralyzing him, and then hitting him with a truck… and then assumably watching someone pee on him. Plus, why did he wait until the light changed… or honk the horn? "Watch out! I’m about to kill you!" I hope next week’s grand scheme involves feeding Uranus iron pellets and then chasing him with a giant magnet.

Well, so far it’s the most entertaining thing to write about today, not that that’s particularly laudable, or anywhere near what I would an endorsement of quality, but I imagine it’d make a great drinking game. If the action that the OP promises actually shows up next week, it would help things a lot. I guess we’ll have to wait until next week to see what the hell I’m going to do with my Sundays.

17 Shouts From the Peanut Gallery

  • ShuffleAir says:

Hm. Another bishie show. Should I watch this or Deen’s bishies?

    • Aroduc says:

I flipped through Deen’s bishies yesterday. They sat around for 20 minutes talking and eating, then dressed up in their adorable little powder blue shinsengumi suits and ran around in circles.

  • Celestial says:

    ur so ghey

  • Asa says:

Woah, what? You actually plan on sitting through another episode of this? A truly commendable effort. *claps*

Read the first few chapters of the manga for this a while back. The murder attempt by the glasses guy was slightly different and much less stupid. Luka also had a bit of a personality rather than being Mysterious Bishie #9475. Don’t know if the story’s actually any good, but even if it is… this is J.C. Staff, it’s already a given that they’ll screw it up.

  • Pozzy says:

best way to tell someone to stop pitying you:

send them an anonymous death threat.

no he did nothing wrong… says the guy watching him pee.

  • The Phantom says:

Looks like a gay version of a emo show like vampire knight or something like that, I find it sick and disgusting, definitely not watching this.

  • Albedo says:

    ok…

so at first they decided to have a story revolving around a vampire protecting some chick, then realized that everyone and their uncle had thought of that idea and made it a gay pairing instead…

    good job there…

  • Senna says:

It’s been a while since I’ve seen an opening that screamed HOMOLUST!ANGST! so loudly and clearly.

So, who’s dreamier, the bishes of Hakuouki or the bishies of this show?

  • Yue says:

    …[my abdomen writhing in laughter]………..HELP!! ^o^

  • bXr says:

    Spring 2010: bishie/homolust season?

  • Dana says:

The other bishies are better looking; but this one is gayer so it wins.

Oh god I so hope you blog this: I laughed myself silly reading your post. Any thoughts on Zess’s fantastic glam metal attire?

  • Hinano says:

omg how did I miss this show! xD

  • 霧日 says:

    我覺得漫畫比較好看

  • Mac says:

Adore this show! A bit more yaoi and I’ll be completely hooked.

I don’t like that he was a girl int he past though, it throws off the gayness a bit.
