The Idiot, Tests, and Summoned Beasts #08 — Bug in the System

Abort, retry, fail?

Impressions:

Excellent episode from start to finish, so let’s go ahead and get the bad out of the way. Production was really really uneven this week. While they did a good job in the second half, the first half was severely underanimated and consisted of a rather significant number of stills and pans that broke up the flow they had going. They also blew a huge huge huge chance for a joke with Kubo’s berserk form showing up to save Yoshii. I was waiting for that the entire second half of the episode, but it never came. Boo, Bakatest. You have failed to fulfill my expectations for your yaoi content.

Basically, the summoning system went berserk, and Yoshii ended up being the only person with any control over his beast. At first, the summons were just turning up in super sexy forms (and for some reason, Yuuji and Tsuchiya’s were all over each other), but then they went all out berserk, so it was up to the moron to fix the problem. Lots of parodies all over the place, from Tsuchiya’s Geass to the Darkstalkers cosplay, and I’m fairly sure Dark Himeji was supposed to be based off of Epyon. There are really too many to list this week. An excellent way to get back into the summoning battles as we approach the finale.

Brief Summary:

Yoshii and Minami are having a fight over a photo of her in a waitress outfit (that came with a Hideyoshi set), but Yoshii’s summoning goes haywire and he spawns millions of his beasts. After a quick flashback showing the genesis of both incidents, class F tries summoning their beasts. All of them turn out sexy, although not always straight. Yoshii still causes floods of Yoshiis. The beasts revert back to their normal forms soon, but go completely haywire and start running amok. Since Yoshii is the special one, the principle recruits him to go fix the issue. They hook a camera up to a mini-Yoshii and send it out, but it’s quickly trounced by the berserk beasts.

They give Yoshii a quick powerup via a series of gradeschool tests and send him back out into the fray. He overcomes the guys’ beasts, but is then captured by Himeji and Minami’s. As he approaches defeat, Miharu’s berserk beast (and Miharu) provide Yoshii with an opening. Himeji’s still too strong for him though, so he has a rare bright idea, and tells her to take a test. Himeji does, and immediately turns it in (0%, no questions answered) letting Yoshii beat her and repair the system. Afterwards, the principle smack off the last 6 HP of Yoshii’s beast so he can go join all his friends in detention.

Shouko needs to stop being so awesome.

Also, I would absolutely purchase a Dark Himeji Shokanju anything.

  • tabs05 says:

The whole episode from even the title was mostly an Evangelion parody, even Yoshii’s fight scene down to the principal’s Gendou imitation of her with the fingers interlocked.Well not that I’m complaining, the comedy is pretty consistent and I like it.

I’m still wondering about that weirdo who was even in the security room in the first place. Hmmm…

And where’s Yoshii’s boy slave? I was so sure he was gonna pop out (hee hee) at some point and have his inner “I’M NOT GAY FOR YOSHII!/YES YES YES I LUUUURVE YOU YOSHII!” moment. Damn

  • Takeya says:

The guy looked like nemoto, class leader for class B, in the novel he has a big grudge against class F for making him wear a sailor fuku after being defeated in the class wars.
