Impressions:

I just wasn’t really feeling this episode, especially in comparison to the last couple. Everything was very predictible from start to finish, they didn’t really do anything new with the visuals this week (although they certainly do love their Yuuji manga references), and the punkish couple tossed just to cause drama was stupid at best. Yuuji and Shouko are both good enough characters, but their relationship is not terribly interesting on its own. It’s best used as a vehicle for other characters to make jokes with, not as something that I feel adds much, if any weight to either character. Spending the entire episode on it… meh.

Most of the good jokes came in the first five minutes, Shouko torching Yuuji’s porn stash, Solid Snake Hideyoshi, the face claw of love, etc. The humor drained away pretty quickly and I think the writers had already completely checked out by the time they hit the Newlywed Game bit, to say nothing of the tsundere male cliche scene #4 that they ended the episode with. I really hope that they get back to the whole Summoned Being battle thing now that we’re starting to near the final stretch (I think). Yoshii’s new ability would give them all sorts of interesting ways to take on the other classes. Plus we’ve barely seen hide or hair of B through D outside of Minami’s stalker.
