Chu-Bra!! #02 — The Booby Prize

January 11th, 2010

Or lack thereof.

Not-Really-Impressions:

This season is a little weird. Even assuming that Railgun bounces back to a Friday show (I seriously have no clue what’s going on with it, and at this point, I’m not sure I care) there is pretty much nothing that excites me that airs between Thursday and Wednesday. Of what does, Chu-Bra at least made me laugh a few times and I have to admit that aside from its premise and themes, it seems like it might be an okay show. Which is akin to saying that outside of the genocide and megalomania, Hitler was an okay guy.

Now that I’ve successfully Godwin’ed my own post…

This episode was a bit funnier than the first, and thanks to the lack of school girl prostitution overtones, a tad less creepy too. The main focus this time was Yako’s insecurities, which progressed pretty much exactly as you’d expect, but at least the show is dealing with the angst as soon as it brings it up and they can only do these "insecure about their body" things for so long before they find something more interesting to talk about. It looks like they’re moving onto recruiting the guy into their little underwear harem next week. I’m not really sure how that works, but if it ends with him in a bra, then I think I have to stick with this one. What does that say about me?

Or maybe I’ll just watch Ladies vs Butlers and Qwaser out of spite. That’s a good reason to watch a show… right? Mmm… delicious spite. I’ve got a hell of a lot more faith in ZEXCS than I do in Xebec or Taki Corp at any rate.

Preview:

Underwear is a battlefield.

Eh. Not a whole lot worth watching this season (least of all this garbage). Probably would be best to either concentrate on school… Or maybe look into a V2 for the GA patch, to clean up the grammar and spelling and whatnot.

  • Bah says:

This anime looks too creepy for me. I don’t know how you do it man.

  • Rei says:

I’m watching this for the ojou-sama tsundere whenever she decides to pop up.

  • Yue says:

argh… a no~brainer show certainly catering to you know what kind of audience. ~_~

While this episode was funny in parts, the theme/plot/story/subject matter makes me wince. A lot. I’ve never been overly enamored with underwear (mine or my neighbors) so I can’t see this series panning out for me unless vampires or giant robots appear.

The Yuri goggles the other classmate seem to be wearing is humorous, but that joke will be beaten to death by Episode 5.

Too much camel-toe. I feel the need to reformat my hard drive.

Wow, now I feel like that I should give this series another look…
