KIDDY GiRL-AND #11 — Spies Like Us
December 24th, 2009
With Chevy Chase and Tuxedo Mask.
Impressions:
A very boring episode that nonetheless took on at least a little more sinister overtones at the end. The vast majority of the time was spent on Letuchie talking about how they sent her maid to go spy on the other members of G-Society, pretty much all comically. I’m still not entirely certain where they’re really going with all this antagonist quasi-development. The people are willing mass murderers who are sad because the peasants revolted against the immensely corrupt rich and are living a life of luxury themselves. Outside of the fanatical devotion to the megalomanical and paranoid Tuxedo Mask, there’s not a lot of motivation here.
That’s where a lot of the sinister overtones come in too. Cocktail Tuxedo Mask has all of them spying on each other, and while the kids are pretty gormless about it, there’s no love lost between Saphyr and Torch. Tux is also a tad obsessed with Ascouer already for reasons beyond anybody’s knowledge. You’d think everybody would be more interested in the precog than the teleporting nitwit. The rest of it was just a rundown of the G-Society people’s powers and Hiver going "the real battle for the galaxy starts now." Thanks, girlfriend, I didn’t quite figure that out when the 50 foot pretty boy declared a bloody revolution two episodes ago, but now it’s crystal clear.

The next episode is going to be /interesting/ – from the final image (which you didn’t include) and the title, it looks like what Éclair and Lumière did 25 years ago was freeze that exploding planet in time – and I assume they are still frozen inside it themselves so will at some point be returning.
