Kobato. #02 — Healing Lap

October 13th, 2009

Yeah, I don’t feel like a crotch joke this morning.

Impressions:

This is going to be brief since I said pretty much everything I had to say about this show last week and this episode solidified my opinion. Kobato bumbles around being a generic clueless cheery altruistic person until she solves some angst at the last second so that you get a sense that the story is actually progressing. I’m on to your trickery, Clamp.

I think that I’ll probably stick with 11eyes for Tuesdays, assuming that today’s episode isn’t awful at any rate. It’s nowhere near as well made, nor is any major slight meant towards Kobato’s technical production, but like I said last week, this is just a character archetype (and to a lesser extent, story structure) that I really despise and so far, this has’t shown me any indication that it’s going to diverge from that. Plus, there’s no way that this’ll have sadomasochistic personas or pyromancers. Unless I’ve really misjudged this.

Don’t misjudge Kobato: her persona is Mara.
    No, really.

Oh, I’m not too sure about that, Kobato has it’s surprises, in my opinion. Yeah, it’s a slow going story and meant mostly as a “feel-good” kind of anime/manga, but from what I know about it, there’s something a bit more mysterious going around behind the scenes. Judging by some of the events they decided to keep in the anime I’m assuming that they’ve kept some or most, if not all of that aspect.

  • The Phantom says:

Boring loli anime, why dont they change the main girl personality to randomly snap out of her clumsy girly behavior and brutally behead others lolis? hell that would be far more interesting than this.
