Hellsing Ultimate #06 — Attack of Giganta

That’s a huge…

High quality is for chumps willing to wait for such things.

Impressions:

Another 9 months, another episode. I honestly don’t even know why I follow this. Lord knows I have no idea what happened in some shows last week, let alone something I watched last November.

I do seem to remember that most of last episode was dominated by people giving speeches, and unfortunately, this one started out more or less the same… only with the added bonus of CG Klansmen. Yes, I’m calling that a bonus. For whatever reason, the music during Integra’s comic scene with Iscariot reminded me a lot of Goemon. Unfortunately, there wasn’t really any action to speak of in the first half, and the second half opened with Seras shooting CG bullets from CG guns at a CG blimp. Granted, she shot a lot of them, but it’s hard for me to get excited over shooting a giant defenseless air manatee. Much of the early part of the second half would have been improved if they had focused on things exploding instead of Pip rambling on and on. I guess they’ve got to build him up for the next episode though.

Zorin was okay, but she really didn’t do anything this episode aside from sending her giant hallucination to harass Hellsing. Seras just used the force and grazed a bullet past her face to put an end to that. At least the little action scene afterwards was impressive enough, although rather short. I did find it funny that the ghouls used their rocket launchers to knock down the wooden front door instead of taking out the people shooting at them. Wood is apparently the new adamantium.

So, I guess considering that I don’t remember much good about episode #5, this was a step back in the right direction, but honestly… it’s been two years now without anything but grunts fighting grunts. They better do a damn good job in… uh… next April or so with the real Seras vs Zorin fight.

Hmmm… I’ve got a plan. I’ll wait until I’m 40 and then pick this OVA up again. They might be done by then.

When it started airing, I made fun of it for not being scheduled to be finished until around 2012. I think early conservative estimates at this point at some time in 2015.

  • P-Dash says:

Heh heh… Goemon. I love that series.

    • Travis says:

      I know, right?

I remember in Mystical Ninja, how awesome it was searching for every single lucky cat statue, or gaining your teammate’s superpowers, or fighting off the GIANT POST-WARRING STATES MECHA. In your giant you-esque mecha, who was also apparently a hit overseas.

      Those games…

Also, Major Montana Max (Seriously, who thinks of these names) for the win. Hehe. Porker nazi.

Oh wow! Been looking forward to this.

Actually, those are the official robes of Spanish priests, not the kkk. The look is really infamous in America, though, so I figure most people here wouldn’t know that.

    The more you know!
