Tears to Tiara #06 — RULER OF THE PLANET OMICRON PERSEI VIII
May 10th, 2009
SHE WILL DESTROY YOU!
Impressions:
Well, they made Arawn torch Llyr’s clothes after all. Great work, Arawn and Riannon. I want to know why she didn’t take Ria as her husband. I think that would have been far more amusing for all involved, and probably would have avoided the weird public pity sex in the castle’s fountain. They also made Llyr seem somewhat decent in battle, which is a total baldfaced lie that shouldn’t be tolerated. What a worthless little bint. At least she now looks like she’s just wearing a silly hat instead of a dead animal, if you don’t look too closely at it at any rate. She remains only slightly more inept in her normal life as well, covering herself with sticky white fluids at every turn.
The second half of the episode was more concerned with Octavia, and I find this presentation far more entertaining. Instead of immediately getting tossed into some light bondage nuptial consummation within a paragraph of appearing, she actually gets to participate a bit in the Imperial forces and step up when her coward commander ran off. On the other hand, they pretty much turned it into a direct copy of Touka’s intro in Utawarerumono, complete with rope bridge. It also helped her seem much less like an airhead, which is another change I welcome.
Super Brief Summary (It’s Mother’s Day, I have stroganoff to cook):
Llyr shows up, and tells them how she kept getting washed out by the tide. She’s here to serve now though, so they all go hunt crabs. In the aftermath, Arawn finds a seal pelt and gives it to Riannon to jumpstart the fire with its oils. Turns out that it’s Llyr’s and now she can’t find a husband, so Arawn says he’ll take responsibility, which means that she’s now his wife. Llyr bumbles through various household chores and gets head patting from the other wives/mistresses.
Meanwhile, the Imperial forces are getting close. Octavia’s with them, though her commander hates her. He’s a coward though, and runs away when they’re ambushed by Gael. Octavia leads the retreat, but the commander cuts the bridge as she and other troops are still crossing it. Afterwards, she’s a bit pissed at him.

Enter the underaged mistress that Arawn thinks is male.

Two point off from me for Llyr’s annoying voice when she cries (my ears! They bleed!). Two points added for awesome animation during the fight scene and Octavia standing up to her dolt of a commander.
