Asura Cryin’ #05 — Housewife Amnesia
April 30th, 2009
I liked her better when she was posing and exploding things.
Impressions:
Not as good as the last couple, but still worlds beyond the first two episodes. I really don’t like the addition of amnesia as a convenient plot device, nor the little gremlin stolen right out of some bad kiddy RPG. Kurosaki isn’t even any more attractive as a docile housewife anyway. At least she teased Tomoharu and sit fire to things… lots of things… when she wasn’t calling herself Yukari.
They did introduce a rather lot this episode about her past without really explaining much of anything. She’s got some sort of past with Susigihara (the new girl that looks like a guy), and has dreams about herself and a twin getting surprise smashed by Susigihara’s Asura machine. Tomo also had a cold through the entire episode that was gradually destabilizing Misao and eventually prevented them from summoning Kurogane. I’m just chalking it up as yet another thing to be explained next week.
Brief Summary:
Kurosaki fights an Asura machine over one of the suitcases and gets punched into the ocean. Later, Tomo and Misao find her passed out and badly injured in front of their house. Misao makes Tomo put on a blindfold as he treats her wounds and remove her unmentionables. He gropes through the process until he really really needs to sneeze, but Kurosaki wakes up as the blindfold falls off. One nosebleed later, Kurosaki can’t remember anything, and is calling herself Kurosaki Yukari.
The next day, Tomo and Misao wake up to find Kurosaki in full-on housewife mode. They ponder it at school and Reishirou warns them that Kurosaki was up to something. The two stop by Kurosaki’s house to investigate and pick up some clothes for her. While there, they find a girl (well, Tomo thinks it’s a guy) playing the organ in the basement. An unelucidating short talk later, he leaves them.
Back at home, Kurosaki has a dream of two of her looking at a comatose Susigihara and being attacked by an Asura machine. Tomo and Misao get home, followed without their knowledge by a little imp. Takatsuki’s shopping for medicine for Tomo and her spider sense goes nuts. Kurosaki leads the two to a room filled with briefcases where the imp attacks them. Takatsuki shows up to fight it, but it’s joined by Mahiwa, who explains that this is just a job to retrieve the Stabilizer from Kurosaki. They attack together and grab her. Tomo tries to summon Kurogane, but something goes wrong and Misao disappears while Kurogane receeds. Seeing the Asura machine triggers Kurosaki’s memories and she goes berserk, but Mahiwa and the imp get away with the Stabilizer.
He delivers it to Susigihara, but when they open it, it explodes. Susigihara protects herself from the blast with an Asura machine.
Preview:
Susigihara steps it up a notch. Tomo gets a rectal exam.
