One of those nights…

Impressions:

Oh right… I had forgotten that this existed… and it mostly covers stuff past where I’ve read, or possibly is just made up, depending on who you choose to believe is telling the truth. Aside from the somewhat haphazard order of stories and very disjoint portions, it was mostly a pretty good episode. The art was much better than normal overall, which was actually a little creepy in a few ways, but it’s a welcome change from the normal xxxHOLiC badness. On the other hand, I haven’t read most of these parts, so this is the first time I’ve watched this without really knowing what to expect.

The first major segment covers a little postscript for Kohane, as well as Doumeki’s first real meeting with Watanuki. Then we go back back WAAAAAAAAAAY back in time for the first real TRC connection in the xxxHOLiC anime since the initial theatrical adaptation to bring Syaoran into things. Then back to the future again to get Watanuki sucked into a book/dream about crow people lusting after his delicious flesh. Kind of like Doumeki, but less likely for Watanuki to wake up in the shower desperately trying to scrub himself clean.

AT ANY RATE, aside from the jumping around bits, it was a pretty decent watch and unless they really boffed something up from the source, fans will enjoy it. Not really worth watching if you’re not a fan though. Certainly not the most exciting or interesting bits of xxxHOLiC to be sure, but there have been far far worse.
