ToraDora!#14 — The Tiger of Happiness
January 7th, 2009
I still prefer the bluebird.
Impressions:
Oh hey, remember this show?
Not all that interesting of an episode honestly. In the aftermath of the cultural festival, the rumor spreads that touching Taiga brings happiness, so all of a sudden, she’s popular (or at the very least, everybody wants to touch her), which makes Ami question some things about herself, and after everybody telling her how grown up she is, Ryuji calls her a helpless kid and the status quo is more or less maintained. That’s really the main issue I havewith this episode. That whole "Taiga brings happiness" thing just really doesn’t seem like it has anywhere to go at all and will just quietly vanish in the next week or two.
Kitamura is also (assumably) shot down by the council pres, and Yasuko smothers Taiga in her chest. I honestly thought that she’d take Ryuji’s little backhanded show of affection quite a bit worse than she actually did, especially given everything else in the episode (and after she checked out his meat so thoroughly), but I’m still holding out hope that they’ll give at least a few episodes to her temporary fling with him. She does look to be getting a little shorter in temper towards Taiga and Ryuji’s relationship in general, so I’m hoping that they’re leading up to her taking an active part in forcing it forward soon.
There is a new OP and ED coming, but not this week, so don’t get your panties in a bundle over that.
Um… I’ve nothing else to say. Don’t forget that Index is now a Wednesday show too. Admittedly very late at night in US time (early afternoon in Moonland). Wednesdays are JCStaffdays… which is kind of a scary thought in and of itself.

Sloppy beak on finger action.
