Why didn’t I think of that?

Impressions:

A decent episode overall, although there were still quite a few parts where everything just sort of stopped for a moment or two and people started firing off exposition. It only got really bad when Accelerator was charging up his plasma storm ball thingy. After threatening to shoot his head off, Mikoto wandered over and had a heart to heart with Misaka for about a minute while he just patiently waited for them to finish and Touma played possum. The scene between Touma and Misaka in the hospital room also felt a bit static since there was absolutely no movement whatsoever during that conversation, and Touma looked traumatized through all of it because his hand was on Misaka’s chest. Ew, girls. Cooties. I sort of tuned out of that conversation entirely and woke up when Mikoto appeared and threatened to electrocute Touma.

I do wish that the fight between Accelerator and Touma had been handled a little better. Last episode, it was pretty much completely one sided in Accelerator’s favor. This week, the only blow he actually landed was his plasma storm. The rest was Touma kicking him around like a sandbag. I’m also not really sure what was up with that little humming 30 second or so insert song at the end. Someone needs a tuning fork. Badly. The scene between Index and Touma was nice though. Even if she’s been nothing but an irritating distraction for the last couple weeks, it was rather adorable to see her snuggling up to Touma and telling him how worried she was.

Overall though, not shabby. The problems with the episode were the same ones that this show has had all along, but nowhere near as severe as usual. Assumably, new OP and ED will be next week as we go into the next arc and back to the Church stuff.
