ToraDora! #11 — Obligatory School Festival

December 10th, 2008

Shock and awe.

Postin’ from Les Schwab. My life is crizazy.

Impressions:

A very predictible and overall boring episode. The boys want to con the girls into some kind of cosplay fetish for the culture festival yada yada yada doing a play featuring Ami and making fun of Taiga instead. Taiga also has father issues, so makes Ryuuji go see him instead, who learns that he’s just worried about her. About the only surprising thing about this episode was Ryuuji physically assaulting Taiga over his own father issues. That seemed a little excessively violent and out of nowhere for somebody who has taken pretty much everything in stride for the last three months. Very little particularly interesting Minori or Ami this week either, although the parakeet did make its triumphant return. Just too much of the episode was focused on Captain Chin’s inane rantings, which were about as interesting as watching paint grow mold, and very little either actually developing the characters or being entertaining.

I didn’t think Ryuuji was excessively violent. It shows how strongly he felt about it. Ryuuji and Taiga are really close, I expected no less during that scene. I even thought he would slap her.

oh my god! Love the scene of the door ….memorable!
    kawaii! ^^…but i want a kiss! ^^

  • Gyabogirl! says:

i dont understand the preview!! ^^…Does someone explain to me?

  • FF says:

The word “father” is obviously a weak point of Ryuuji’s, him having grown up in a single mother family. Set-up episode this time.

  • Myssa Rei says:

Ha ha, poor Yuriko. Tick tock goes the internal clock… Will her inner Rena Ryuugyu (ha ha, VA joke) break out at last?

  • Yue says:

[Preview] Toradora goes Evangelion, i knew this series would be Gainax’d. By the way, Hands Off Ryuji!! ^o^

  • Kraker2k says:

The ending is more an Ashita no Joe homage, hear the KO bells ringing away?

Somewhat paid homage to in Gurren Lagann with Kamina’s death scene.

  • nobaka says:

I was thinking that it was taking too long for him to call her on being a bitch about the father issue (seeing as how since the FIRST TIME his is mentioned, it’s been clear he has issues of his own).

When RYUUJI calls you a bitch, you know you’ve been the biggest bitch ever.

    True enough, nobaka, true enough…

  • Haesslich says:

… that tiger going up Taiga’s dress makes me think “still as steep as a cliffside” – right before a certain BAD END. That, and we need more Psycho Yuri-sensei, since crazed-sounding Tanaka Rie is always good.

  • Sherry says:

This is like the shifting point… no more happy-go-lucky. I feel really sorry for Taiga. I’m sure she’ll be miserable, even if it’s her father she’s returning to.

Next few episodes will most likely will be a self-realization for Ryuuji and Taiga (or, they might just bring it to a resolving end for the anime).

I really hope they don’t end it that soon. :<
