A Certain Magical Index #07 — Blah Blah Blah…

November 15th, 2008

Less Noto, more Rail Gun.

Impressions:

Well, everything I had heard about the 2nd novel pegged it as the weakest of the lot by far, so I admit that even though I really know almost no details, I was hoping we could skip through quickly it in order to get to the rail gun/clone wars, but apparently it’s just not to be. I was pleasantly surprised by Noto as Himegami, though it’s not really that far off from her normal roles. She was actually a bit feisty instead of her normal cloying role, which is at least something of a change of pace for her. It’s not much, but at least it wasn’t irritating, so I count it as a win as far as she’s concerned.

As for the rest… talking heads and exposition abound. The start was at least a little entertaining, though I’m not watching this for Index being silly and hiding cats down her shirt. Then we got sucked into Stiyl’s long long recruitment speech. Save the miko, kill vampires, alchemists experiments, blah blah blah. Oh well, I’m sticking to my prediction from last week that we’ve still got at least a couple more episodes before we get to the real meat of the series and back to the electrical gunning.

FYI, just a reminder… there’s some wackiness with the primary Tales of the Abyss broadcast today, so it’s sort of indefinitely delayed/in flux for this week. Maybe it’ll be out in a couple hours… maybe not until next Friday.

Preview:

Preview contains 58% more action than actual episode.

    @dangan

    Because Mikoto is forgotten until volume 3. As you’ve noticed, Komoe has also disappeared from the anime. This series likes forgetting characters..
