Touma: Olympic Gold Medalist in the World’s Slowest 5 Yard Spring

Impressions:

Ah, my old enemy "Amnesia Plot Device"… we meet again. It’s not as bad as usual though because while Touma’s brain was trashed, the magical brain wipe was nice enough to not make a liar out of him and his ‘heart’ still remains, whatever the hell that means. He can at least bluff that he still remembers things at any rate, so it’s not the usual total reset of character development and progress, which I’m eminently thankful for. It’s not like there’s anything particularly interesting to flash back to though, aside from maybe Kaori stomping on his face.

Pacing was really weird through the first half of the episode. Touma and Index held that beam for a good five minutes or so while they all kept talking over it, and then once Kaori and Stiyl got involved, Touma took almost another two full minutes… them talking the entire time… to run across one room of his apartment. He wasn’t even slow motion dashing, they just kept showing him running in place in his squalid little15x15 flat. The very end of the episode was also a total downer compared to the rest. For all the weird pacing, I did at least like most of the episode. Then Stiyl and an upside down computer-person droned on for a solid four minutes to set up the next arc. You could tell that even the animators got bored of the scene when they put the camera on its side and walked away.

Well, more or less on pace for the usual JCStaff action series. I give it another episode or two of mediocrity before it gets good for 6-8 episodes and then finishes sort of awkwardly. Really, all that they need to do is give Mikoto more screen time. Also, between this and Abyss, I can’t wait until Saturday becomes The Clone Army day.

Also, what the hell was up with Stiyl sending Touma a letter in a pink envelope with hearts? Is he trying to tell us something here?

Preview:

None of these people shoot railguns. Tch.

Well looks like this finished up the first novel, and the miko girl is from the second.
Dont know any of the story from the second novel, but based on the manga once it gets to the third novels story the action should pick up. Mikotos ‘imouto’ time and hax Accelerator.
• Aizen says:

Never thought Stiyl swung that way :O

So is To Aru Majutsu no Index going to be a loop of Touma forgetting his memories, then? If so, I’m going to be >:(

“Also, what the hell was up with Stiyl sending Touma a letter in a pink envelope with hearts?”
Well Stiyl is a 14 year old boy… maybe he has a mancrush for Touma?

  • Kubaru says:

Well i can tell that the next arc will be mostly about MISAKA and her clones and Acellerator. I think its a bit different though from the preview, all i saw was that miko girl and not a single picture about misaka’s clones. I was laughing out loud when the impressions said the next saturday will be the clone army day (refferring to misaka’s clones) xP

  • Zan says:

    Wait, Stiyl is 14?

  • tsunade666 says:

I think the one with MISAKA’S clone are for the next arc
part. For now its the vol 2 of the novel and I think
you read the manga that’s why you said it’s MISAKA’S
    ark next…..

But overall its an awesome episode :D :D

    LOVE IT!
I wish the zero no tsukaima was been anime adopted by
same company… the way the anime version of zero no
tsukaima really sucks compare to the novel.

  • MAGICNAME007 says:

You’ll probably read this somewhere already, but St.George Sanctuary create a great distance that would be impossible to go through without Touma’s right hand. Hence the running >_>.

But they should’ve allocated a line from anyone to explain this in this episode >_>

  • Nayuki says:

Correct me if wrong, but didn’t the anime just make Touma look like a giant negligent idiot with the feather to the head here? I seem to recall that in the manga he sees it going by and tries to get it with his hand but misses and is at to odd an angle to swipe again. Feather is going to hit Index, so he -chooses- to lean in and let it hit him instead of her, netting him ‘cool love her’ points rather than ‘idioticly blind to surroundings’ points.

Touma, the anime gimped you >.<

  • Zan says:

Just letting you know, tsunade666, JC Staff did both this and Zero no Tsukaima.

So, Alesteir Crowley is a psychic eh?

  • […] could certainly do with MOAR Biri Biri. Aroduc proposes: ‘Really, all that they need to do is give Mikoto more screen time.’ Kuroko too. And a […]

I found it really funny when Index’s beam hit a satellite in space. That’s accuracy.
