EAR GUN, FIRE!

Impressions:

Alright, well… I may have to revise my previous estimations for Sunday, because like Ga-rei, I thought this was a much better episode than the first. Production values were nowhere near as high, but there were far fewer creepy uber-chins and a lot more absolute craziness. I was all ready to complain about them wasting no time to ramp up the fanservice with the opening shower scene, but then it turned out to be Takuto’s ass. Due has a silhouette like a little girl… and yes, that’s his elephant, which Tanarot says is the same as the little baby’s. I want to know why that kid didn’t have pants on in the first place. I mean… I grew up in Florida, so I saw more than my fair share of 2-3 year olds going "100 degree heat? Screw pants!" while their parents looked either panicked or resigned to be party to public childhood nudity, but this kid was in a stroller in the middle of a shopping center. I’m still also not quite certain what’s up with the claymation stuff… whether that’s censorship or just the show being weird. I’m inclined to think the latter, but who knows. And yes, I am aware that those figures are from Sister Princess.

Aside from the main ‘plot’ of the episode, two powerful Disgaea knockoffs coming in to kill Tanarot for being an unbalancing influence on the world or some such generic rot, one of the professors let loose his Ear-Gun Zeta, which rampaged around the school, giving every student animal ears. Suzuho’s puppy look was probably the cutest, but I did find it amusing that the dog-girl maid got bunny ears. Her master, being a similar pervert, enhanced the spell and gave everybody paws and a tail too. Of course, he then saved the day when he discovered that the legendary cat-eared glasses maid that Etna knockoff used to distract him was a lie (A DAMNED LIE), but then he put on lipstick and false nails to pretend to be a horrible mother-in-law to punish the villains, who are now the academy’s maids.

So yeah, I thought this episode was far far better than the first, which leaves my Sunday schedule still sort of in limbo. I’m sort of shocked that both of these shows turned out to be really solid, though in completely different ways. At this point, I think I’m more or less resigned to just having a really busy weekend (at least anime-wise) for the season, which’ll probably be okay, since there’s really very little that I care about watching on Mondays or Tuesdays at the moment.

Caps suck, I know. *shrug*

Tenka Seiha has always had the most and best screen caps of pretty much any blog. I’m sure no one would mind waiting longer for better caps.

YAY!!! More Macademi. Although I found that this anime is quite different than the novels in some way.

    My guess for next episode:
Felca’s debut and some dungeon style RPG
• Looks like that weapon is an upgraded version of Sanada’s catgirl gun (UFO Princess Valkyrie).
