Well, at least they didn’t show Index or Komoe naked as per the Shana expositional hook.

Impressions:

Episode… so… boring… Can’t… keep… eyes… open… Please… stop… the… endless… exposition…

Seriously, the entire episode is a bunch of talking heads. First Komoe and Index, then Index and Touma, then Kanzaki and Stiyl, then back to Index and Touma. There were about three times when people were even in motion; when Index violated Komoe’s apartment lease by drawing pentagrams in blood on the furniture, when Touma started scooting around after vowing to help Index, and when Index and Touma were walking with their bath crap. That’s it. The rest was just shots of people’s heads, or occasionally feet. At least they had the decency to melt one of those damned frogs that they used as a fetish for the summoning ritual. Damn you, JCStaff for bringing those accursed frogs back to mind.

Certainly the worst Index episode to date, though next episode shows a lot of promise. The preview was pretty much 100% Road Warrior Kanzaki fighting Touma. Hell, I think there was more movement in the 15 second preview than there was for the entire rest of the episode. Understanding what’s going on is important and all, but let’s space it out a little bit better or at least provide something interesting to look at while we do it in the future, alright? Spending almost 8 minutes on casting the spell through multiple screwups probably didn’t help the pacing too much here either for that matter.
