Someone’s been springing for the cheapo community college classes.

Impressions:

Honestly, Stiyl (Style?), could you be any more of a stereotypical bad guy? The episode started with aboutfive full minutes of him explaining his evil plan and why Index was important to Touma. As far as he knows, Touma’s just some guy that happens to live there. This is the equivilent of mugging someone and then when a passerby comes to check things out, you give them your life story and tell them where you’re hanging out later that night. At least he had the intelligence to try to kill Touma afterwards, but honestly, he shouldn’t have been standing around giving speeches to begin with. That never ends well. If he had just said "yo, crap, that girl needs a doctor, let’s go to the hospital," he wouldn’t have needed to trash the apartment complex or summon his evil ifrit creature. I’m also not entirely certain why he didn’t dodge Touma’s second punch after effortlessly avoiding the first. Apparently he becomes incompetent when wet… not like he was the epitome of brilliance when dry.

Aside from the five minutes of evil overlord exposition, a very solid and action packed episode. Touma probably could stand to be a bit more graceful, and at least he did think for a moment to call for help. He was bright enough to figure out how to beat the thing on fire anyway. Backhanding the ifrit without looking was kind of over the top, though it did make me smile even for its silliness. I’m also not surprised that Komoe is a runt given the amount of nicotine she apparently scarfs down.

I’m still not sure about the schedule juggling here between this, Abyss, Kemeko and maybe ZKC (depending on when I decide to grab that), but I think doing quickie entries for this and Abyss with more depth on the other two may work out. I have already watched this week’s Abyss, I just tuned in about 4 minutes in and decided to not cap the stream. It goes right up to Luke’s second "I hate killing" mental break down.
