Senkawa sucks and I have proof!

Impressions:

So I was saying to Mavis, I says "You know what show I wish Birdy was more like? Law and Order. I know people are watching it for space action and science fiction carnage, but what would be more awesome than a long drawn out court proceeding? Nothing, Mavis. Nothing! Only it’ll be in space, with people standing on hover discs. That’s what the kids like these days. Law and Order!"

I’m probably being a little bit unfair here. Jack McCoy is far more animated than this ever threatened to be.

As expected, Senkawa was annoying from start to finish. It took him about 20 seconds into the episode before he was trying to use Birdy’s dead friend as leverage to preach to her about his stupid morals. Then I could reenact his contributions to most of the rest of the episodes as a one man play that I like to all "Senkawa Impersonates a Three Year Old."

"Look, Birdy! Space! We’re in space!"
"Birdy! Hey Birdy! That’s an alien planet! Alien, Birdy!"
"Whoa, that guy’s a bug, Birdy. He’s a bug!"
"Birdy! Birdy!! She’s a dog! Why’s she a dog, Birdy?"

Then the Law and Order portion started for real and Senkawa thought that telling them "Birdy’s trying her hardest" was an appropriate rebuttal for her years of using overwhelming force, collaterol damage, and manslaughter. You are not Phoenix Wright, Senkawa. You might be Larry Butz, but I’m not sure I’m ready to give you that much credit quite yet. Even Judge Judy would roll her eyes at you for that one, and if anybody should be compared to a court of space lizards, it’s Judge Judy. Or maybe Scalia. 

Even before Totali gets on my case about glossing over the plot, there wasn’t really any to be had in the first place. Birdy has a past of breaking things, her teacher is a crazy skull lizard and the authorities don’t like her much. Then they decide to send her after the new macguffin to keep the story moving. Oh, and her doggirl friend gave her a new vibrator. Then, as she was wandering around her old digs, a car blew up, thereby putting the whole "go find the macguffin" thing that took half the episode to set up on hold for at least one episode, probably more. Now that’s storytelling.

From what the preview tells me, it was the plot of dog people. Personally, I find the expression on the one in the middle of being shot through the head to be hilarious. His mother is going to be so sad that he was making a face like that as he died.
